photography of Maine and THE up of Michigan
It probably started with the northern lights — that freezing winter night in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when I dragged my tripod out into the snow, half-expecting the sky to stay black. Or maybe it was the morning I spent hiking on a Maine island, trying to capture the cliffs dropping straight into the ocean. Either way, once I got hooked on chasing those moments, I couldn't stop.
I'm a photographer in the Michigan’s UP and Maine. I shoot a bit of everything — night skies, coastlines, birds, regattas, flowers, whatever catches my eye. I haven't found my "thing" yet, and honestly, I'm not sure I want to. There's too much out there worth pointing a camera at.
What I keep coming back to is the feeling of being out there for it. Standing in the dark waiting for the aurora to show up. Sitting on a boat watching sailboats round a mark. Hiking a trail in the Upper Peninsula and spotting a deer stepping quietly through the trees. The photos are what I bring home from those moments.
People started asking about prints, so here we are. This site is mostly a place to share what I've been working on. If something catches your eye and you'd like a print, I'd be happy to talk. But mostly I just hope you enjoy looking around.
Thanks for stopping by.
